Guided excursions each semester — hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and paddling at spots like Sand Hollow — open to students, staff, and the wider community. Trip dates and sign-ups are on the Campus Rec reservation portal.
Monthly Saturday stewardship mornings in the warm season
Cottonwood Trailhead, Red Cliffs National Conservation Area
A hands-on stewardship morning caring for native plantings in the Red Cliffs NCA — a chance to get out on the land and give back. Held on Saturdays at 7am (recent dates include late June and late July). CSU also partners on free educational hikes through the year.
Frequent casual group hikes around St. George
An approachable, sociable Meetup group with well over a thousand members — easy-paced hikes on the red-rock foothills and desert trails for exercise and conversation. Dates, trailheads, and times are posted on Meetup. Note: the organizers run these as not dog-friendly.
